The ICC Commission Consults with London First
The London ICC Commission Chairman, Gerry Acher, met with London First members on November 25, 2004. 
London First is a business campaign group supported by over 300 of the capital’s major businesses, as well as higher education institutions, further education colleges and NHS Trusts. They engage the business community in promoting and improving London, using the vision, energy and skills of business leaders to shape and secure the capital’s future.
The objective of the meeting was to include the unique views of representatives of major London businesses in the ICC Commission’s consultation process. The validity of the Commission’s research partially depends on presenting a well-rounded view of how a new international convention centre would impact on various sectors and industries in London.
An overview of the Commission’s research to date was provided, particularly focusing on initial findings from the Demand Study being performed by a team at Grant Thornton. New business tourism statistics for London were presented and a series of questions was discussed, including:
1) What are your personal views on the capital as the location for a new ICC?
2) Is the Commission soliciting all of the correct contacts and target sectors for feedback, particularly, how do we engage your sectors of responsibility?
3) Do you have an opinion on how a new London ICC would affect the number of meetings London businesses currently hold outside of London?
London First’s feedback will be incorporated into the Commission’s final report to the Mayor of London.
