Search for London centre needs inspirational leader

I entirely support what Martin Lewis had to say about the London Leadershi forum (Viewpoint, M&IT, May). I came away from that meeting with a real impression that the momentum created at the first forum has been lost. I was also depressed by the approach of Gerry Acher – surely this project needs inspirational leadership, not the rather wooden and ‘agnostic’ performance we have seen so far.

We probably shouldn’t be surprised at his comments about looking at he business case for an international convention centre given his KPMG background – my worry is that he won’t have the vision to look beyond the vision to look beyond the figures and see the considerable benefits that will accrue to business tourism in both London and the UK as a whole.
