Mayoral Commission confirms appointments
Conference & Exhibition Fact Finder, 01 May 2004
The first six members of the Mayoral Commission tasked with deciding whether London needs a new, purpose-built, convention centre have been appointed.
Joining commission chairman Gerry Acher are Vanessa Cotton, formerly of the Event Management Company; Martin George of BA; Gary Grimmer former CEO of Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau; Katie Kopec of Jones Lang LaSalle; Larry Oltmanns of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and Roger Tondeur of MCI group.
Set up under the auspices of the Mayor of London, by the London Development Agency – the Mayor’s agency for business and jobs – the Commission will address the potential benefits of building a large-scale international convention centre in the capital. It will also look more widely at other options to ensure London maximises its potential in the multi-billion pound business and convention sector.
Other commissioners will be announced.
